Example of Design Improvement These timers are for operating groundwater sampling pumps in the field. They provide a timed pulse of compressed air. They need to be robust and portable. The sampleman I designed on left provides the same pneumatic pump timing functions as my previous design on the right which was 1/2 the size or our best competitor. The improved design is 1/4 the weight, 1/8 the volume and cost 2/3 as much to make. For comparison the gauges on both timers are the same size. | ||
